From Melanie Lavery to the SL Committee:
As most everyone is aware, I volunteered to be the Softball Leinster chairperson at the recent AGM. No one else seemed willing to put themselves forward, and I felt this was too essential of a position to go unfilled. More importantly, I felt I had some ideas and could provide clear leadership to move things forward for our region. However, I have been concerned that without a readymade replacement for Fastpitch, it would be unrealistic for me to be able to lead both regions. Taking this into consideration, and with deep regret, I have decided to step down as Chair of SL. I am aware that there is a suitable candidate who has expressed an interest in taking on the role and I would like to wish the incoming Chairperson and the SL Committee every success in the coming year.
As Director of Fastpitch in Ireland, I will continue to focus my energy on our new league and youth teams, as well as staying on as the Head Coach of the Women’s National Team.
What does this mean for the SL Committee and the appointment of a new Chairperson?
In accordance with 7.5 (c) of the SL Constitution, SL Treasurer Massimo Lepri will assume the position of interim Chairperson. The Committee will hold a meeting on November 25th and the first order of business will be to appoint a new Chairperson, whereupon Massimo will resume his role as Treasurer.
