Summer Update

Hi Everyone,

We are now heading into the latter stages of what has been a very busy 2023 Season with challenges presented both in terms of pitch availability and our summer weather.

Despite this our league schedules are more or less up to date with just a couple of make up games being played next week.

DCC Stannaway park should be back up-and running from 14th on.

Blitz season has been in full flight in a very, very busy year. SOS Blitz, Hippeties Blitz, Mellon Educate Charity Blitz, Suspects Pink Blitz, Kegs Development Blitz, Renegades Canada Day Blitz, Castleknock Softball Blitz.

In addition to these there was the resumption of The All Girls Blitz series, added to by All Men’s Blitzes, with SL Teams travelling to Blitzes in Belfast, Galway and Europe.

The Ireland FP Team competed in the Women’s Softball World Cup Qualifiers played in Balbriggan, North County Dublin

SL would like to commend Colum and Melanie Lavery, along with Niall Lavery, a number of Volunteers in hosting a great event despite the challenging weather experienced.

A big shout out to the Ireland U18 Girls who won a bronze medal in the U18 Women’s Softball European Championship in Prague.

This week SL and SI are represented by Dodder and Batpak competing in the Clubs Super Cup in Bulgaria.

Both teams represent us and deserve as much support as possible.

Next week sees many SL teams heading to Cork for the Irish Open Softball Tournament (IOST).

Throughout August, the four Divisional Leagues will complete, with plenty to play for in each.

Suspects Softball Club and All Girls Softball and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership are partnering up for “Come Try Softball” on Thursday 17thAugust in Shanganagh Park as part of HER Outdoors Week.

SL are hoping to run a Pitching Clinic for the Lower Divisions later in August.

Softball Connaught will host the Wild Isle Softball Tournament on 25th August and Hippeties have a Blitz scheduled for Saturday 9th September.

Our Prem League Winners will compete in SINCC on Saturday 2nd September against the other SI Regional Winners.

SL will host our End Of Season All Stars Game on the weekend of 15th/16th September (Venue to be confirmed) and to finish off play in Leinster the All Girls have a Blitz scheduled for the 23rd September.

Our End Of Season Prize Giving also to be confirmed at a later date.

Finally we will have our Annual General Meeting provisionally set for Saturday 4th November (venue to be confirmed)
After three years volunteering the current Committee will be for the most part stepping down.
In order to continue supporting and growing softball in the Leinster Region SL will require Your Help.

We need people to step forward and take on the Roles of Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary together with Ordinary Committee Members. Applications for the positions are now open. Interested parties should forward their application to
