Softball Leinster AGM – Call to Action!

The Softball Leinster Annual General Meeting is scheduled for 4pm on the 19th of October in a new venue this year at the Four Provinces Bar in Kimmage.

Among the things that will be discussed will be whether Softball Leinster should propose at the Softball Ireland AGM that there should be a greater representation of teams from Leinster participating in SINCC (the Softball Ireland National Club Championship). We plan to debate the issue on  the day and then vote.

We will also be voting/recruiting volunteers to help us fill some vacancies on the SL board. The SL committee is made up of four ordinary members, a Chairperson, Treasurer and a Secretary. After four years as chairperson, Jonathan Spielberg will be stepping down this year but will remain on the committee as an ordinary member to help with the transition of a new chairperson. Jonathan has decided to step down and is running for President of Softball Ireland.

We are about to enter into an exciting and volatile period for our sport and we cannot do it without greater participation from our members. Softball Leinster is the nuts and bolts of the games played in our region. We organise the schedules, help facilitate recruiting for teams and clubs, schedule, train and recruit umpires, publish the rules and byelaws as well as enforce them and when possible even organise pitches. The season is longer for the committee as we begin our work in January when we start organising the season. Most of the committee’s work is done before the first pitch is ever thrown. If any of this sounds appealing, or you would just like to give back a little to the sport then don’t hesitate to contact us at info@softballleinster.ie and let us know that you’d like to volunteer and what role you’d like to take on. Usually we have not enough volunteers for the open roles that exist, but if two or more people want to go for the same role we will hold a vote on the day.

Again, thanks in advance for one member of your team being in attendance at the AGM. We look forward to seeing you all there.
