LOCAL GOVERNMENT GRANT.
We are delighted to announce that Softball Leinster has secured Dublin City Council funding for use with developing the sport in the region. It will be added to this year’s budget to purchase Gloves, Batting Nets, Batting Tees, Incrediballs etc. This will be used in conjunction with our ongoing clinics to help develop players and their skills. They will also be used at open days and softball presentations. The equipment will also be available to any club to use for their own recruitment and open days. This is a great boost for our sport.
MOVING TO FULL CO-ED.
As discussed at the pre-season captains meeting, and I’m sure you all aware of this, the league is now thankfully moving back towards full co-ed 5/5 for the 2023 season. Many teams are fielding 5/5 teams regularly. We would ask all teams to look at their structures and recruitment policies to make this transition easy for all. There’s quite a lot of time to start putting this in place, but please let us know if we can help. We understand there will need to be more dialogue on the preparation for this, and it is also highly probable that this will be a phased introduction. We are in the process of putting together the necessary information and statistics to share with captains on this topic. More to follow very shortly.
End of Season All Stars and Awards Night.
